Coaching Requirements
In 2005 SCYSA implemented mandatory coaching requirements that all affiliated clubs in South Carolina have to abide by. New coaches are given a one year grace period to obtain the necessary certifications. Obtaining coaching certifications requires a commitment of time, effort and money by the coach. Thus, the obtaining of certifications is an indication of the individuals commitment to the sport and desire to improve their coaching ability.
United States Soccer Federation (USSF)
As the governing body for soccer in the United States, one of US Soccer’s responsibilities is the development of soccer coaches. To this end, USSF provides a broad range of coaching courses: The USSF A is the highest qualification while the USSF Youth Modules are what is needed to work with the youngest soccer enthusiasts.
National Soccer Coaches Association of America
National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) is the largest coaching organization in the world. Its members coach at all levels of the game. One of the NSCAA’s primary missions is coaching education. It offers a wide variety of diploma courses, from a two-hour Parent Coach Diploma, designed for the volunteer parent coach just starting out, to the Premier Diploma, a week-long course that is the pinnacle of the NSCAA Academy.

Note: CFC annually budgets money to assist CFC coaches in obtaining additional coaching certifications. (A national level licence will cost approximately $1,000). Given the SCYSA requirements one must assume USA does something similiar but no details were forthcoming.
